Following the November 2, 1938 First Vienna Award, which accorded large sections of southern Slovakia to Hungary, this line proved crucial in creating "spaces of exclusion". Much of the available scholarship has linked the 1938 sites of persecution with the broader context of the Holocaust in Slovakia
