Among the issues discussed was whether and to what extent, 50 or 60 years after the end of the Second World War, the Austrian State is responsible for the restitution of stolen property and for compensating victims of the crimes committed by the Nazi regime. The views on the restitution of stolen Jewish property are accompanied by some contradictions: every step in the right direction is in a way "matched' by contributions for "Wehrmacht'' soldiers or their families, so that all sides are treated ''fáirly''.
