Laura came to Australia with her husband after the 1956 Hungarian revolution and married Robert Bogdany after the death of her first husband Alex.

Laura Bogdany, nee Leichtmann, was born in Budapest, Hungary in 1918. She was the youngest of six children in a poor family. Her father died when she was ten years old.
