TitreShanghai Jewish Chronicle
DescriptionNewspaper in German from Shanghai, "Shanghai Jewish Chronicle", 19th January 1943. Collected by Edgar and Irene Boehm, Jewish refugees in Shanghai from 1939 until 1946 when they migrated to Australia.
This copy presents a valuable insight into world events in that period, both political and including war coverage. This Jewish publication seems to report unmolested by the Japanese occupation but there is a definite slant towards Japan. There is broad coverage of world events. A literary critique is included as well as small commercial ads. Mention is made of the Nationalist Chinese declaration of war against England and the U.S.
