DescriptionFive full-size medals with ribbons (a-e) from the British Commonwealth/Australian Governments, mounted on a metal bar with a large clasp on the reverse for wearing on official occasions. They were awarded to Hilda Georgina Zinner (1926-200) from 1959-1967 for her service with the Australian Red Cross in war zones in Vietnam and Malaysia.
The medals are (from left to right):
a) MBE: Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (awarded in 1964), Civilian Division, the medal consists of a star suspended on a rose-pink ribbon with pearl-grey edges;
b) Australian Active Service Medal: 1945-1975, with two clasps - "Vietnam" and "Malaya", the medal is round with a star in the middle and the Queen's crown on top, H.G. Zinner is engraved on the reverse, it is suspended on a ribbon with purple, dark green, aqua and gold stripes outside a central red stripe;
c) General Service Medal with Malaya clasp, the medal is round with the Queen's portrait and was awarded post-1945, A.G. Zinner is engraved on the edge, the ribbon is purple with a central green stripe;
d) Vietnam Medal (South East Asia) is a round medal with the Queen's portrait, H.G. Zinner is engraved on the edge, the ribbon has three narrow red stripes on a central gold band bordered by red, a broad dark blue stripe is on the left and a broad light blue stripe is on the right;
e) Vietnamese Campaign Medal (South East Asia), the medal is a six pointed white star on a gold background, the star has a green circle in the centre with a gold and red design, H.G. Zinner is engraved on the reverse, the ribbon alternates four green and 3 white stripes and a date cluster (1960) is attached centrally on the ribbon
