TitreMimouna Table
Créateur Rhys Norton (Craftsman)
DescriptionMiniature of a table set with food for Mimouna, a feast celebrated by Moroccan Jews, which takes place the day after Passover. This has become widespread in Israel and the Jewish Diaspora and is increasingly popular. Beginning after nightfall, non-Jewish neighbours would bring back the hametz (food with leavening agents forbidden on Passover) and mofletta (thin crepes) would be served. A lavish table filled with holiday cakes and sweet meats filled with symbols of good fortune, fertility and new beginnings would be laid out. Doors are left open and visitors move house to house celebrating.
