Katrin Stoll traces aspects of contemporary Holocaust research in Poland since the publication of Jan Tomasz Gross's 'Neighbors' in 2000, in Polish. A significant new, courageous and forthright cadre of scholars has arisen in Poland over the last twenty years. Many of their studies have shed light on the participation of ethnic Poles in the persecution, spoliation and murder of the Jews. This research has focused especially on the last phase of the Holocaust. An additional trend has been attempts to revise the concept of the indifferent witness or bystander
