Description
An account of the time spent by Lewis Flegeltaub in Brisbane in the late 19th century. Flegeltaub, or "deaf mute", was born in 1848 in Poland, and migrated to Victoria as a child. he grew wealthy around Ballarat and Bendigo during the gold rushes, and after his marriage to Esther Hannah Phillips in 1868 moved to Brisbane and opened a clock and jewellery store. He was active in the local Hebrew Congregation and died in 1897.
