Description
Gilah Leder was born to Aaron and Froukeline Vanderhoek in the Netherlands in May 1940. She was a very sickly child, and when it became clear that the family would be sent to a detention camp, they decided to to relinquish her to a Catholic family. Her mother then went into hiding. She was three and a half when her parents came for her, and she resisted going with them. However she did develop a loving relationship with her own mother over time, and has maintained a very close relationship with her second mother
