Description

Discusses relations between Jewish cattle-dealers and non Jewish farmers in the German countryside. These relations depended strongly on mutual economic trust, and neither political pressure nor anti-semitic agitation could break them. Many farmers needed the Jewish cattle-dealers out of economic self-interest. Nevertheless they could exploit the situation for their own benefit, and this was one of the reason why the Jewish cattle-dealers were finally pushed out of the market
