Description
Polish-Israeli relations, which began in May 1948 when Poland recognized the Jewish state, were not easy - Polish sympathy for the new state lasted barely a few months. There were many causes of conflict. In June 1967 in the face of the Arab-Israeli conflict, the communist countries including Poland decided to break off relations with Israel. Some months later issues relating to Israel becme a major element in the propaganda and purges that accompanied the March events. During the purges, the Jewish state was used as a pretext to expose the disloyalty of Polish citizens of Jewish background
