This article traces the history of the Jewish Historical Institute, begun in 1860, in Warsaw. The Institute holds major library and Judaica collections, consisting of more than 11,000 objects, with items from synagogues and a collection of Jewish paintings, sculptures and graphics as well as historical items from the ghettoes and camps.
