Description
Drawing on memoirs, diaries and stories written in the ghetto, Unger gives a finely textured picture of ghetto life. She also poses two questions which arise from the data on gender disparities in the ghetto: 1. Why was the mortality rate higher for men than for women? 2. Why were women, especially those in their twenties & thirties, disproportionately put on transports.
