Description
In Hungary, during the Second World War, Melvina 'Malka' Csizmadia, an eighteen years old girl, lives with her two sisters and mother next to a Jewish ghetto. On the other side of the fence, she meets Szarany (Michael Rapaport), a Jewish soldier arrested and living in the ghetto. She offers to help him first through the delivery of letters to members of the resistance, and then digging a hole beneath a brewery to reach the ghetto. They are successful and many Jews, together with her family, escape to Czechoslovakia.
The second story is about
Adolf Althoff (Tim Matheson) who is the owner of a German circus that has belonged to his family for nine generations. Adolf and his wife Maria Althoff (Daryl Hannah) hide many Jews in the circus
