TítuloViennese Theatre
DescripciónThis is one of a collection of programmes of the Sydney Viennese Theatre (Kleines Wiener Theater) collected by the donor’s mother. This one, of a play by Max Frisch, “Biografie” was performed in May-June 1969 at Anzac House. The Viennese Theatre, operational from 1941 to the mid-1980s, provided a cultural link to the home country and Europe to migrants/refugees. The donor’s parents, Edith and Frederick Sowey, were great supporters of the Theatre, which had been founded by Karl Bittman and Alfred Baring “as a symbol of a vibrant and optimistic cultural era” (words of the donor). The play was performed in German and the programme is written in German with English language advertisements.
