The significance of this document is that Henriette was sent to England aged 13 in 1938 due to “Kindertransport” - the informal name of a series of rescue efforts which brought thousands of refugee Jewish children to Great Britain from Nazi Germany between 1938 and 1940. Her older brother Karl Heinz made his way to England in 1939, they both migrated to Australia in 1957.
