The pen and ink wash illustration is highlighted with red and a soft yellow wash showing the extent of the Soviet Russian industrial resources that potentially could be ‘tapped’ into by the Nazis. Marcuse’s signature appears on the lower right corner. Ernst Marcuse (1900-1985) was a commercial artist and illustrator who came to Australia in 1939. He produced many war illustrations for The Argus Newspaper and joined the Australian Army where he produced many visual aid material for training and illustrating for Army publications.
