DescripciónPen on paper drawing of a street scene at the intersection of Campbell and Denham Streets in Surry Hills, Sydney, showing the Christian Israelites Church (Israelites Sanctuary, founded 1853). The drawing is signed and dated by the artist, Frederick B. Lamberger, 31.8.60. Lamberger was born in Hungary in 1907 and, in World War II, he fought with the French underground movement, the Maquis, and served as a liaison officer for the US Army. He migrated to Australia in 1950 with his sister, Catherine Gluck (nee Lamberger). He was an artist and entrepreneur who had many businesses in the King's Cross area, travelled widely and produced many drawings. Fred died on 23-01-1986 at St Vincent's Hospital in Darlinghurst, Sydney.
