DescripciónCollection of 9 black and white photographs (a-i; on a single sheet) that belonged to Alf Davis, an Australian Jewish soldier who served as a wireless translator and intelligence officer in WWII. The pictures show places where Alf was posted in Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Biak in 1943 and 1944. Photos include scenes from camp life such as the mess tent, a communal chapel and a Jewish prayer service for Rosh Hashana with the shofar being blown, as well as groups of servicemen, one such group with several indigenous people in PNG.
