CreadorDepartment of the Interior
DescripciónLetter dated 14 April 1939 from the Commonwealth of Australia Department of the Interior to Mr. Heinrich Goldschmidt, Kirribilli, NSW, in regard to Australian Landing Permits he had applied for. Landing Permit No. 31002 had been issued for himself (though already in Australia) and Landing Permit No. 31003 was issued to his parents, Ernst and Stephanie Goldschmidt, who were living in German-occupied Austria at the time. The letter indicated that a cablegram would be sent to alert his parents of the news and that a small amount was left owing for the process. His parents immigrated to Australia soon after. Ernst was president of B'nai B'rith in Vienna and was instrumental in establishing it in Australia.
