DescripciónSepia tone photo of Cesha, taken on a street in Warsaw. On the back is written "Nowy Seiriat 1944". Cesha Glazer (nee Esther Oryl) was confined to the Warsaw Ghetto as a young girl of 17. She convinced her parents that only escape would offer a chance of survival. She became a messenger to the outside world, finding a way through the Ghetto walls. She obtained a birth certificate from a Christian girl about her age and rented an apartment. With her fair hair and complexion, she blended into the population as a Polish Christian named Kaska Czeslawa. She risked her life to sneak back into the Ghetto with money and food for her family. In August 1942 her family was deported and murdered.
