The album belonged to Sister Elsie Needham, a nurse with the British Red Cross, who entered the concentration camp five days after liberation. The photographs depict prisoners and British military and Red Cross staff, at work, relaxing or in other situations. For example, first page includes an image depicting two former inmates (shaved heads) wrapped in blankets sitting on the ground, one appears to be cooking in a tin; another photo depicts a group of young people sorting through a pile of rubbish. Some of the photographs have been captioned with handwritten notes on the backs or on the album pages, providing the names of the individuals depicted.
