This radio model was used as a mantel or tabletop by the Kriesler Radio Company between 1946 and 1947.
The Kriesler Radio Company was one of Australia's largest radio manufacturers, founded in 1931 by Raphael (Rae) and Leon Weingott. Production for radios increased rapidly during the 1940s with the war effort. The company's advertising utilised the phrase; 'The best set at any price!'. The business was sold to Philips in the early 1950s as television production became popular. Kriesler as a brand continued in Australia until 1983.
