Dr Josef Blum was from Nagy Karoy, part of Romania which was later under Hungarian control. He was awarded the Red Cross awards because he was president of a hospital that treated people who couldn't afford it. He was deported to Auschwitz where he was murdered. Dr Blum's wife Teresa was not Jewish, but saved many Jews during the war. She had wanted to go with her husband to Auschwitz, but was not allowed. Later, she was awarded as 'Righteous Among the Nations".
