Descripción

Adam Czerniakow was born in 1880 and served as President of the Judenrat of the Jews of Warsaw from 4.10.39 until the second day of the 'akzia' in which about 264,000 Jews were sent to their deaths in Treblinka. He committed suicide in 1942. His diary sheds light on the human aspect of the Chairman of the Judenrat, laying bare the private tragedy in which he found himself as a human being and as a leader. The diary broadens the scope of our knowledge regarding the Judenrat's activity
