Explores several aspects of the public discussion of historical issues among Hungarian Jews in the final years of Jewish emancipation in Hungary. Examines how the main currents in Hungarian Jewry - all of which were in some way part of the political culture that had taken shape during the emancipation era - coped with the Jewish Laws of 1938 and 1939, and the increasing threat of antisemitism at home
