Descripción
Examines how German Jews responded to the threats presented to them in the 1930s. Examines how Jews at the time understood and became increasingly fearful for their position in German society. The analysis is based on reexamination of contemporary accounts, mostly diaries, by Jews and argues that such accounts, in contrast to survivor testimonies, have the value of unadulterated ignorance of what was to come.
