Descripción
The Yiddish writer Leib Rochman kept a diary beginning in February 1942 three months after going into hiding with his wife, his wife's sister and brother-in-law, and a friend. It ended with the liberation by the Red Army in August 1944. The various versions of the diary highlight the cultural transmission that took place in regard to genre and publication venue. This article delineates the genre, narrative style and themes of Rochman's "And in your blood shall live" diary published in 1949, and translated into English as "The pit and the trap: a survivor's chronicle" in 1983
