Wurzburg Anatomical Institute and its supply of corpses (1933-1945)

The Institute's supply of corpses is analyzed based on the register of received corpses. Before 1933 they received most of their corpses from hospitals, old age homes. Between 1933-45 some changes occurred. The no. of corpses from psychiatric hospitals and other institutions declined, but the no. from execution sites, prisons and Gestapo rose dramatically, reflecting the massive increase of the no. of death sentences, as well as deaths from physical violence and torture in the prisons
