Descripción
In October 1941 20,000 Romanian Jews were exiled to Transnistria, a remote region in southern Ukraine. By May 1942, only 70,000 were left. These became the subject of secret rescue negotiations between the Jewish Agency and the Germans involving Chaim Weizmann and Adolf Eichmann among others. The negotiations led nowhere owing in part to the lack of Allied governments' support.
