In a brief review the author discusses the philosophies of two prominent Jewish historians, Bloch and Kantorowicz, whose ideological backgrounds were almost totally opposed and yet the apparently complete assimilation of both and their quasi-mystical loyalty to their countries, ultimately confronted them with identical dilemmas and brought forth reactions not entirely different.
