This is the story of of Padre Rufino who is chosen by the Bishop of Assisi to lead a group of Jewish refugees who are fleeing from Rome to Genoa to board a ship leaving that port. Includes the issue of a particular local Gestapo chief who is interested in one particular refugee, Professor Rieti, an atomic scientist
