Descripción

Discusses and critiques the Holocaust philosophy of 8 Jewish theologians: Bernard Maza, Ignauz Maybaum, Emil Fackenheim, Eliezer Berkovits, Arthur A. Cohen, Richard Rubinstein, Elie Wiesel and Marc Ellis. Theories by these scholars have included the Jews dying for everyone else's sins (Maybaum), not granting any posthumous victories to Hitler (the 614th commandments - Fackenheim), the death of G-d (Rubenstein), and post-Shoah salvation (Ellis). Cohn-Sherbok argues that none of these scholars have placed the Holocaust in an eschatological continuum wherein G-d would provide the Jews with their full and just reward and vindication
