An emotional account of the Rudolph Kasztner trial by a leading American writer. Kasztner, a wartime leader of the Hungarian Jews, was accused by an Israeli journalist of collaborating with Nazis and needlessly causing the deaths of thousands of his fellow Jews. The ensuing trial- and this account- condemn the Zionist leadership of wartime Hungary for placing politics above humanitarian concerns. The author clearly states his bias at the beginning of the book, but makes a convincing argument nonetheless.
