Description
Rabbi Chaim Michael Dov Weissmandl was one of the key leaders in the effort to save nearly 1,000,000 Hungarian Jews. With Brand, Weissmandl opened negotiations with Eichmann's representatives to save the Jews in return for shipments of trucks and supplies. The mission failed, and some experts believe it was doomed from the start. Fuchs provides an enormous amount of detail on Weissmandl's dealings with political and church leaders, and his own harrowing personal experiences, including an escape from Nazi custody.
