BeschreibungB&W photograph (reproduction) showing a Danish fishing boat with Danish Jews aboard, being secretly transported to Sweden and safety. Caption on back: Photo No. 4. Denmark, October 1943. In a few weeks’ time fishing-boats and other small craft transported more than 7000 Danish Jews to Sweden. The crossing could be risky for the fugitives as well as for the fishermen and helpers on land. As soon as the boats reached Swedish territorial waters, the Jews could crawl out from their hiding and breathe again.
