BeschreibungWooden hanger with iron hook and impressed and painted in black: "J. Sorger Magdeburg-Sudenburg Halberstadterstr. 37". This was the name of a men's clothing shop in Magdeburg Germany which was owned by the donor's grandfather Jacob Sorger. He and his wife escaped from Germany in the "nick of time" - with the gestapo on their heels and came to Australia in 1939. It is a memento of a former life, when Mr Sorger was a respected merchant in Germany.
