BeschreibungCream-coloured, velvet Sefer Torah mantle (cover) with gold fringe and ornate embroidery. The embroidery includes fabric decoration and coloured-metal studs and depicts two lions, a crown, the 10 Commandments, and a vase of flowers. An inscription reads, "Presented by Mr & Mrs Ross in Memory of their Daughter". There are also words in Hebrew. This Sefer Torah cover was donated to the Witbank Synagogue (Witbank, South Africa) in memory of the Ross' daughter who died, age 12, in the polio epidemic of c. 1945. The cover was returned to the family after the synagogue closed in 2007.
