BeschreibungBlack and white photograph of the entrance of the Riga Ghetto, in Latvia, showing a barbed-wire fence and sign. The sign, in both German and Latvian, is a warning that people attempting to cross the fence or contact inhabitants of the ghetto will be shot. This photo was taken by a German soldier in 1943 before the liquidation of Riga in December of that year. The sign reads - "Every person that oversteps the fence or tries to get in contact with the Ghetto inmates will be shot at without warning!"
