BeschreibungJapanese naval officers dagger, in a wooden scabbard. Ray-skin wrapped handle with metal chrysanthemum flower (emblem of Japan). Top of scabbard enclosed in ornamented metal sheath with chrysanthemum. The dagger belonged to Captain John Einfeld, husband of the donor. Capt. Einfeld obtained it from a Japanese prisoner-of-war, at the end of the war in New Guinea. The dagger is probably worn by non-commissioned officers, as the commissioned officer's scabbard was leather.
