Beschreibung

In 1939 there were nearly 35 million people living in Poland of whom around 3 million were Jews. Between 2.2 and 2.5 million remained in the country under German occupation, of whom 90 % were murdered, while the rest managed to flee to the Soviet Union. Around 10% attempted to save themselves, trying to forge legal documents. There is much documentation of Poles handing over Jews to German soldiers, and survivor's testimonies also record Poles murdering Jews they were hiding in their homes
