Beschreibung
Explores Turkeys response and treatment of its Jewish population from 1933 to 1945. An analysis of press coverage from political circles at the time highlights that little attention was given to the genocide against the backdrop of the developments of the war, which was primarily a consequence of Turkeys nationalistic domestic political agenda at the time. Although the majority of Turkeys political class rejected the Nazis anti-Semitism, Jews were subjected to forceful rigid nationalism and assimilation policies including forced labour and the wealth tax.
