In the shadow of heroes: struggle and survival of Canta Beimler-Herker and Lina Haag

The twelve-year history of the concentration camp Dachau is almost exclusively the history of men, since only in the final phase were there also female prisoners and guards. In Munich there are two women, the widows of former Dachau prisoners, (the subject of this article) whose stories have been documented and made known. Both had to survive their struggle for survival alone, since their husbands were arrested before they were, and disappeared. These are two different stories of survival
