Debating the fate of Bulgarian Jews during World War II

At the onset of World War II, Bulgaria sided with the Axis. Following Germany's invasion of Greece and Yugoslavia, Bulgarian troops moved in as an occupying force, and from these lands Bulgaria would deport over 11,000 Jews to the death camps. In 1943 Bulgaria deported 20,000 from occupied Thrace and Macedonia. There were two failed attempts to deport Bulgarian Jews.
