Pius XII and the rescue of Jews in Italy: evidence of a papal directive

Since the end of the war, supporters of Pius XII have often claimed that he was instrumental in saving thousands of Jews. However papal critics disagree on this. They maintain that Vatican efforts to facilitate emigration was directed almost exclusively towards converts to Catholicism.
