Beschreibung
Considers the 1954 Israel trial of Rudolf Kasztner, who in 1944 negotiated with Adolf Eichmann for the rescue of 1685 Hungarian Jews following the Nazis' entry into Hungary. The transaction was said to be tainted with corruption. Having relocated to Israel in 1945, Kasztner sued one Malkiel Greenwald for libel following Greenwald's assertion of corruption in Kasztner's Nazi dealings. The trial, which split Israeli society, resulted in Kasztner losing the case, and its after-effects linger to this day.
