The passport photograph was taken after Alfred was released from Buchenwald - hence the shaven head. The contents of the passport indicate that he was issued the passport by the Nazi Regime in 1939, obtained a visa for the U.K. (from the British Consul-General at Frankfurt am Main) for a 12 month visit and, and later in London, obtained a visa for the U.S.A dated 6 November 1940.
