BeskrivelseTwo page personal letter typed from Eliska Glaserova to Harry Silberman (from Prague to Australia) describing the appalling living conditions in wartime Prague under German occupation and a moving account of her and her mother's experience in Theresienstadt concentration camp and the hardships they suffered there. There is also a humorous account of how she gained the skills of apes by climbing up and down the ladder to reach her bed. The letter is dated 14 December 1945
Excerpt: “You will have heard from uncle Ignace that we spent three years in the concentration camp of Terezin. It is not far from Prague but we had the impression of being separated from our old life by oceans ...There was much hunger in the beginning. Father died in January ’43 three months after his arrival. From hunger, exhaustion and the whole ghastliness of the surrounding. Terezin was especially hard on old people."
