Holocaust culture in perspective: evading the Holocaust story and its legacy of responsibility

This essay examines the proliferation of post-Holocaust cultural responses to the Holocaust - the consciousness of which has penetrated the law, politics and society. It has also left an indelible mark on literature, art and culture. The producers of culture and their audiences have been attracted to the Holocaust's tragic dimensions yet they have conveyed it in ways that avoid its moral legacy
