Australia's participation in World War II was orientated towards the Pacific and Japan. After the war it became the destination for many Holocaust survivors. Australia took in more survivors in relation to its population than any country other than Israel. Holocaust remembrance has through the Holocaust Museum in Melbourne evolved into a national culture remembrance
